If you are planning a trip to Paris with kids, you will find everything you are looking for in this guide. I’m sharing my suggestions for kid-friendly accommodation, transportation, and activities that you will need while planning for Paris.

Kid Friendly Accommodations in Paris

Before deciding on accommodation, determine the places you want to visit and mark them on the map. When deciding on the location of the hotels, make sure they are close to the most marked places on the map. There are many accommodation options in Paris; I am sharing some of my favorites just to give you an idea.

Things to do with kids in Paris

When you think of Paris with kids, Disneyland comes to mind first. I’ll share the details of Disneyland trip in a separate article, please read that article as well.

Eiffel Tower and Champs de Mars: The first place that not only children but people of all ages want to see when they think of Paris is the Eiffel Tower, the symbol of the city. Going up the tower is very enjoyable for children. Riding the different elevators, watching the city from the binoculars at the top etc. Kids really enjoy it. The huge park at the end of the tower is also a great place to spend time with the family. I think having a picnic at the bottom of the Eiffel Tower and watching the children running around on the grass should be on your list.

Seine River Tour: The Seine River runs through the middle of the city and a tour on the canal is the most enjoyable way to see the most famous landmarks such as the Louvre, Musée d’Orsay, Notre Dame and the Eiffel Tower panoramically. The tours start and end near the Eiffel Tower and last between 45 minutes to 2 hours. There are tours for every taste and budget. If you want, you can get on hop on hop off boats, get off at the stops you want, get on again when you are done and continue on your way.

Jardin du Luxembourg: The Luxembourg gardens are one of the city’s best parks and a fun place to take the kids in Paris. There are pony rides, a large adventure playground, a sandpit, a traditional puppet theater and more. There are also games like racing remote-controlled boats in a large pool. Parents can sit back and have a cup of coffee while the kids playing for hours. And the location of the park is very central.

Jardin d’Acclimatation: This is an amusement park and will keep the kids entertained for hours, but you can have fun with them too. Carousels, rotating swings, etc. You can remember your childhood with nostalgic toys. The cafes in the park are a bit expensive, so I recommend you to bring some food and drinks and have a picnic. Also, take a change of clothes with you, kids might want to get wet.

Jardin des Tuileries: This is a park between Concorde Square and the Louvre Museum. There are pools, Ferris wheel, rotating swing etc. Your kids can play while you drink coffee on the benches by the pool. After visiting the Louvre, I think you can stop by for some fresh air and a good rest.

Palace of Versailles: A UNESCO World Heritage Site, this enchanting palace impresses children as much as adults. There is so much to explore, both inside the palace and in the huge gardens outside. You can also take a boat tour on the Grand Canal, kids will love it.

Cite des Enfants: This is a science museum for children. There are separate areas for two different age groups, 2-7 years old and 5-12 years old. Experiments, games, discoveries, etc. There are many activities to develop children’s imagination. It is quite a big area, you can spend long hours here.

Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle and Jardin des Plantes: The Natural History Museum is a great attraction for children and young people. The museum has a wonderful collection of fossils and a children’s gallery about biodiversity. Every child loves the evolution gallery with dinosaur skeletons. By the way, there are activities for children such as treasure hunts, you can ask them about it. Under 26 years of age, the museum is free. The nice thing about this museum is that you can relax and enjoy the garden just outside the museum after you get tired.

Musée d’Orsay: Originally a train station and then a post office, the building was converted into a museum in 1986. The museum organizes special tours for children and activities such as treasure hunts. You can enter the museum for free on the first Sunday of every month.

Musée du Louvre: It is impossible not to visit the largest museum in the world. Of course, it would take weeks to see all the artworks inside, but you can visit certain sections you choose for yourself and tell the stories of the paintings to your children. There are also activities to develop children’s creativity in the studio on the ground floor, but the language is French. The museum is closed on Tuesdays and free for those under 18.

Musée des Arts Forains: This is an amusement park museum, but it’s not just about the exhibits. It is an interactive museum with games and shows. Both you and your children will have fun here. If you go on weekdays or early in the morning, you won’t wait in line for the games. Free for children under 4 years old.

Choco-Story Paris – Musée du Chocolat: A museum where you can learn the story of chocolate from its birth to global spread. Special tours and chocolate making workshops are organized for children and you can buy the chocolates you make. Free for under 3 years old.

Pompidou Center: This is a cultural and entertainment center. It is an inside-out building with pipes and escalators outside. Inside there is an interactive children’s exhibition and children’s art workshops. There are interesting exhibitions and workshops not only for young children but also for teenagers.

Of course, there are many more things to do in Paris, but I have focused on activities that would be of great interest to children.

Transportation in Paris with Kids

In Paris, public transportation is free for children under 4 years old, and there is a 50% discount for children up to 9 years old. Since most of the subway stations lack elevators, navigating them with a stroller can be challenging. For babies and toddlers, using a baby carrier might be a more practical option.
