I’ve been living in Tbilisi for 6 years now. One of the most frequently asked questions I receive, quite understandably, concerns accommodation in Tbilisi. While new hotels continue to spring up, some are shutting their doors, making my previous accommodation guide outdated. Where to Stay in Tbilisi?

First of all, I would like to mention very briefly about the regions in Tbilisi, so that you can search for a hotel knowing which region you want to stay, even if you do not choose a hotel from my list. After explaining the regions, I will continue with my hotel, hostel and apartment suggestions in Tbilisi.

Best Areas To Stay In Tbilisi

I want to start with Old Tbilisi; this is the most touristic place of the city. The main places to see in Tbilisi are here, as well as many cafes and bars. Sololaki is a neighborhood between the back streets of Old Tbilisi and Freedom Square. It was a neighborhood where rich people lived during the Russian Empire, so it is possible to see historical houses built in the Art Nouveau style in this area. Abanotubani is the region where the baths in Tbilisi are located. This place is very central since it is right next to Old Tbilisi Square. Avlabari is located on the other side of the river across the Abanotubani region. You can easily reach places to visit from here, too. Rustaveli Boulevard and its surroundings is a very active and public transportation is easy here. You can also reach Old Tbilisi on foot in 15-20 minutes. There are also museums and opera houses here.

The upper part of Rustaveli Boulevard is called Mtatsminda. This place is not very central, but you can easily reach to Rustaveli Boulevard by walking. After Mtatsminda, Vera comes, there is no place to visit as a tourist attraction, but there are nice cafes here. Vera’s neighbor, Vake, has also nothing touristy, but there are shops, boutiques, nice cafes and restaurants. The area under Rustaveli Street towards the river is Orbeliani, there are also sweet cafes here, you can easily walk to the main street. Opposite Rustaveli Boulevard there is Marjanishvili on the other side of the river. Davit Aghmashenebeli Boulevard, the main street of this region, consists of completely renovated buildings. Although it is far from tourist places, it is one of the preferred areas for accommodation, there are quite a lot of cafes and restaurants options. Chugureti is a region that has recently started to become popular, close to Marjanishvili. The number of accommodation options and restaurants is gradually increasing, but it is far from touristic places. Saburtalo is a region where new residences and shopping malls are built, there is nothing touristic but it is easily accessible by public transport.

I haven’t stayed in any of the hotels below, but since I know Tbilisi well, I tried to find places that are close to touristic places or easy to reach. After setting the favorites according to the photos and locations, I read the comments and then I included them in the list here. The prices I share may vary depending on the date you go and the time you book.
